Dear Brethren,

Greetings!!

We are Happy to Report:

The Lord added to the church two more precious souls (see photo).
Mother and daughter-in-law Dominadora and Rosalinda Bellas were baptized for the remission of their sins after worship service last Sunday (Jan. 14). They studied the Bible with our Home Bible Study (HBS) for two months now. A group of Jehovah Witnesses also alternately studied with them, but was rejected when they learned that their teachings are not found in the Bible especially concerning Deity of Christ and the soul of man. Sis Rosalinda’s husband Paul is a working man and we are trying to find ways to reach him out with the gospel of Christ. He is opening his home for the brethren and not critical about the church. HBS will continue in his place weekly.

Portion of the roof and fence of the house in Tangalan was partially repaired.
We still need to complete large portion of the main roofing (see photos). Tangalan brethren will be moving on January 28 and PIBS classes coming February will be held here Lord willing even if it is not completely restored. Brethren, we ask for your prayers and if you feel you could assist us in any way please let us know just email this address or email Brian Bishop aklan@sbcglobal.net. We appreciate so much your concern.

Kalibo Aklan is in the frantic hype of pagan idolatry this week.
“Ati-atihan” festival (a celebration worshiping image of “Santo Nino”) season is here again. This annual event is accompanied by drunkenness, street dancing, blaring drum beats, overflow of food and the hailing the image of the “child Jesus”. The celebration will take its peak on Sunday. The church is preparing to escape the noise of Mardi Gra (which will be passing infront the chapel) by worshiping early at 7:00 AM. Brethren in far places will travel early at 5:00 AM to Kalibo just to attend services. We cannot go out to minister outreaches this coming Sunday afternoon, there are road blocks, giving way to the parade and merry making. Brethren from Tangalan and Batan will be in Kalibo Saturday afternoon on advance, they would spend overnight for Sunday church activities. Brunch will be served after worship at 9:00 AM.

This would be all for now brethren, until next time. If pagans would hail their god’s image with a shout“Viva Senior Santo Nino”!! We will praise and worship our King Emmanuel, the true Lord and God - Jesus Christ, with songs and prayers. God bless you all!!

In His Service,

Sammy and Janel
