Kalibo Report

April 4, 2005

Dear Brethren,

Greetings to all of you!!

We are happy to report that we have an attendance of more than 100 campers in the recent WestVis Family Camp held here last March 23 to 26. Brethren who were invited to lecture and teach came and thought topics in line with the theme, Stronger Christian Family: The Challenge Ahead. Bro Reuben Emperado lectured on two topics, Guidelines for Recovery & Renewal from Inescapable & Painful Realities in Life and Positive Attitude Among Young People. Bro Merari Garovillo spoke the very timely subject, Fortifying the Family for Difficult & Ungodly Culture in Which to Live. Bro Freddy Arellano tackled the question, It is Possible to Raise a Genuinely Christian Family? And Bro Edgar Maquiling thought the topic, ! How to Detect Signs of Domestic Fragmentation. All the speakers did splendidly in making our objective realize, which is to affect the themes idea and affirm it before the audience.

Four Christian ladies contributed their talents. Sis Minnie Lagria and Sis Bernie Cal thought the Children Bible Classes. Sis Dioly Maquiling lead songs for the Ladies Classes and Sis Evelyn Emperado gave the lectures, she thought on two topics namely; The Role of Women in the Church of Christ and Training Children to be a Responsible Christian Adult.

Bro Jun Santiago, Bro Edmund Montoyo Jr., and Sis Dhez Arellano coordinated singles and young peoples activities. They organized group dynamic, games and presentation.

We cannot fail to mention the faithfulness of our speakers in devotionals and Gospel meetings. To name the rest of them (some were mentioned above as lecturers already), Bro Shem Tagapan of Bago City, Negros Occ., Bro Edmund Montoyo of Bacolod City, Bro Noe Diaz of Sta Barbara Iloilo, and Bro Joseph Del Velos of Pulupandan, Negros Occ.

Bro John McMillan, vice chancellor of Western Christian College and High School in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, grace the camps already warm and festive atmosphere. We were encouraged so much of Johns visit, even as he share with us information about the Western Christian and his city, Regina. Bro McMillan graciously delivered a sermon about the Christian family during the last Gospel meeting night. He stayed very late just to fellowship with other preachers and campers. Bro John was able to reach Kalibo through facilitation of Bro Salvador Cariaga. After the camp, he flown the next day to Metro Manila for some speaking arrangements with the church in Makati City.

The camp activities were really full packed with action compressed in three days. Kalibo brethren as host were little bit physically tired, but the joy of serving and fulfillment was great, and all for the glory of God.

As one saying goes; strike while the iron is hot, we are once again preparing for a Gospel Meeting to be held this coming Sunday, April 10. The meeting will be done following a lunch fellowship and will end around seven in the evening (defends upon the discussion of the questions that might be posted). We have guest speaker coming all the way from the United States. Our brother will be speaking the entire Sunday; in the Bible class and in the pulpit in the morning and, into the Gospel Meeting in the afternoon and evening. We are thinking that this would be a good follow on activity for our visitor-friends who have just attended the family camp, of whom two of them are now attending church services. This would be an opportunity to invite them again and one more time presents the Gospel of Jesus. Please pray with us that this meeting will be a success.

I will be traveling for Cebu City this Wednesday (April 6) to fetch our brother and come back with him on Friday afternoon Lord willing, via slow boat overnight for Iloilo City. The next day we would be riding a bus on a 3- hours comeback trip to Kalibo. Hopefully he will stay here for a day or two, to teach prospects in home Bible studies and devotionals and also on our leadership class. Please pray with us for a safe passage.

Update on the Touch of Jesus Radio Program: We have resumed the broadcast last Saturday after a long holiday. DYMT-FM is now reaching many far places. We are in need of variety acapella songs to be played on the air between our Gospel message and Bible answer to religious questions portions.

Brethren, this is all we could report for now. Thank you so much for your undying supports and prayers. Affectionately we are your brethren and partners in the Lords Vineyard. God blesses you all.

In His Service,

Sammy and Janel Sinco
