From the desk of John Gooch
John preached his first gospel sermon at age 17 and nearly 30 years later still loves to preach at every opportunity. He has served as a deacon at Jersey Village for 6 years and also served on the ministry staff full time for over 3 years before going back into the business world in 2004. He has made himself available to area churches in the Houston area for fill in preaching and also preaches in the Wednesday night summer series for various congregations.
John grew up in Branson, Missouri and attended Central Missouri State University, where he played for the school's golf team. He turned pro after he was out of school and worked in Springfield, Missouri for 2 years as a club pro before going into the electronics business in 1984. He and his wife Lisa were married in 1985 and have lived in Albuquerque and Austin before moving to Houston in 1990. John desires to some day preach full time but, in the meantime, is devoted to teaching, study and writing.
