REPORT ON ENVANGELISM TRIP TO THE WASSA AMENFI DISTRICT OF THE WESTERN REGION OF GHANA

We are grateful to the almighty God for the trip and I greet you in the lord. The three americans missionaries arrived in ghana on 31st october 2005. The lord guided us to visit churches and brethren in the district. The missionaries were, Russel Revees (team leader), Steve Neville (minister, broadstreet, minola, texas church of christ) and David Palk.

THE GEOGRAPHY OF THE WASSA DISTRICT

The area is a deprived district in the country. The main occupation of the people is farming. They also have a triving lumbering industry. It is one of the cocoa growing area in the country.

(BAWDIE CAMPAIGN) 1ST AND 2ND NOVEMBER 2005

The team visited churches at wassa saa, aburokyi krobo, gyedua, jukwa, and akropong. At aburokyi krobo, the local congregation out of their rersources has put up a place of worship. This was highely recommended by the team. In all these localities, the american team prayed to the sick, gave out food, medical supplies and preached the word of god to the people. Many souls believed the word and they were giving the chance for further studies with the local brethren.

Brother Neville encouraged them to be steadfast in the faith and to continue with their good work.

PHASE 2 (ASANKRAGUA, 3-6TH NOVEMBER, 2005)

Allthe local congregation meet at berman, and had a crusade. There were over 700 members prersent for the three days programme. The various minister administered to the people and prayed for the sick and afflicted. It was a wonderful experience. The local people sung a lot of the local choruses to the glory of the lord.

PHASE 3 (SAMREBOI 7-11 NOVEMBER, 2005)

We visited communities like kwamang, oda kurofrom, old kotoamso and woman no good. The people received us very well and had a meal fellowship with them. The name woman no good was explained to us by the brethren. It was derived from some women traders who decided not to pay an old hunter for his game they bought.
We visited 26 congragations in the wasa- amenfi district.

The team made a financial payment for 4 wheelchairs, which are to be bought and given to some members who are in dying need of them. School fees was also paid for a brillent but needy student who has been sacked for the non-payment of fees. Lord supper trays, cups and bibles (local languages, 100 copies and english versions) were also distributed to all the churches present.

An outreach programme was also organised to solicit information on the way forward for the lord’s work.

FINAL PHASE (12TH November, 2005)

We talked to the brothers in the morning before the departure in the afternoon.

PRESSING NEEDS OF THE CONGREGATIONS.

1. Financial assisstance to enable most of the churches to put up their place of worship. Most of them (about 80 %) meet in public schools and this does not augur well for the spreeding of the word
2. Medical care
3. A proposed bible collage for the region at tarkwa, to enable them train more preachers for the lord’s church.
4. School supplies to meet the growing needs of most of the members and their wards.
5. Support for radio broadcasts.

WORLD BIBLE SCHOOL
The status of the world bilble school today is that it is urban based. An attempt to take it to most rural communities has a lot of challenges. There is the need for the following to be taken into consideration as early as possible;

1. A central office space to keep and co-ordinate the wbs activities.
2. Support for the postage to and from the teacher and student. (most of the rural students cannot bear the cost of postage).
3. Office equipment, such as computers, printers and other assessories that will facilitate record keeping of the activities.

CONCLUSION
We highly recommend the effort that has been put in place by the broadstreet, church of christ, texas, to asssist the deprived chuches, especially in wassa amenfi district of ghana. It is my prayer that god rewards their effort. I believe that through this effort more soul will be saved for the lord. It is my hope that anytime they call on us, we shall assist them in our small way.
God richly blesses the work.
